Congratulations to the riders who turned out keen to race in what were awful conditions and thanks to the marshals who had to do their duty on such a day.
About 30 minutes before the start the weather looked like it was improving. But by the time the around 35 starters had set off the weather gods had their fun for the day as the conditions worsened to be almost as bad as they had been in the morning. Riders had to contend with rain and a headwind going out that was not apparent at the start line, and a falling temperature that was apparent to all of us. bar one certain helper in shorts!
Credit goes to the riders for doing what many car drivers don't - travel to the conditions. Everyone got back safely and some may even have enjoyed themselves.

Biggest "bunches" were in C grade and E grade but most sprints were either solo or long pulls to the finish from way out. Richard Brough rode strongly to win A grade but Duncan MacKenzie and Darryl Strachan really earned their top three placings. Ashleigh Neave held out Brohn Torkler in B grade while Ben Ross continued his winning ways in C grade. Dean Clifford was the only "senior" rider in C grade up against the young whippets. Well done Dean, the fire seemed more attractive for your contemporaries..
David McCallum rode strongly to take out D grade and Warren Quinn won the bunch sprint in E grade. Bill Scott belied his years by winning F grade in a meritorious effort.

The numbers may have been low but the passion was as high as ever!
