Welcome to the second newsletter/update regarding the 2008 Elite & under 23 National Championships, to be held in Hawkes Bay. Please note that the event has changed from the Thursday/Saturday format used in January 2007 to Friday/Sunday to reduce the need for people to take an extra day off work.
It is also planned to hold the first Managers meeting on Friday mid-day.
A reminder the format has changed as discussed and approved at the CNZ AGM.
- Entries are from centres not clubs as per last year.
- The race will operate on a full race convoy with Centre team service vehicles operating as they would in any major event.
- Uniforms will be the usual centre colours.
- Support vehicles are not to be more than 1.6 m high ie. Station wagons okay but no big high vans and no utes.
- Riders may also use radios and be connected to the team manager.
- Feeding maybe undertaken from the support vehicles.
This provides an opportunity for commissaires, riders and teams to gain experience at something not normally found outside of UCI tours.

General
Xmas Holidays are always a very busy time so accommodation will be at a premium and clubs/riders are urged to make bookings now.
We recommend Hastings Top 10 Holiday Park. www.hastingstop10.co.nz
On Saturday 12th (free day)Ramblers Cycling Club will run a normal club race on the course and visitors are most welcome to join us.
This year the event will be televised thanks to the Hastings District Council.
The following weekend the Club hosts the annual EMC2 And THE HUB CYCLE CENTRE 2 Day Tour. We are planning to increase the prize money to $10,000. The Bay is well known for its fine wines and a number of tourist spots, so riders/visitor may wish to stay on and enjoy a week of wining and dining in the sunny Hawkes Bay and compete in our Tour the following weekend.
